Reigning WTCC champion Jose Maria Lopez feels he is as ready as he could ever be for the prestigious Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit which is set to host round seven and eight of the World Touring Car Championship.

The factory Citroen driver currently leads the drivers' standings by 33 points after three events but it will be the first time he has competed at the famous 15-mile German circuit. Lopez says the track should be shown full respect by all the drivers as it will provide a unique test compared to anything they have experienced before.

"I've worked really hard to prepare for this meeting putting in lots of laps on the Citro?n Racing simulator," Lopez said. "I feel as ready as I'll ever be. I hope to feel the same way this weekend."

"This circuit is just amazing! I understand now why it's so famous," he explained. "But to fully appreciate it, you have to have confidence in your driving and in your car. That was the case two weeks ago, when I felt that I was totally in sync with my Citro?n C-Elys?e WTCC."

Nurburgring is set to host the WTCC Race of Germany and gets underway with free practice on Thursday 14th May. Both races are scheduled for Saturday 16th May as the WTCC joins forces with the 24 Hour Nurburgring race.
