Le Mans winner Nicolas Lapierre will make his FIA World Touring Car Championship debut at the next round in Japan after being snapped up by LADA for the remaining four events of the season.

The Frenchman, a former GP2 race winner and part of the team that clinched this year's LMP2 crown at Le Mans, comes into LADA as part of his links with ORECA, which develops the engine for the Russian manufacturer's Vesta TC1.

Lapierre replaces Jaap Van Lagen in the team after the Dutchman's short-term deal in place of James Thompson came to an end.
