Hours after he crossed the line to take Polestar Cyan Volvo's best result in the World Touring Car Championship, Thed Bjork was disqualified for a technical infringement that altered the make-up of the race results at the Slovakiaring.

The Swede had muscled his way past Honda's Norbert Michelisz on the the final lap to claim a creditable fourth place in the main event of the weekend, but post-race checks found a breach of the technical regulations, leaving the stewards with no option but to disqualify the #62 machine from the results of both races.

Bjork's problem lay with an internal restrictor which was deemed to exceed the maximum 36mm dimensions laid down in the supercharging section of the rules, and his exclusion promotes Michelisz back to fourth in race two as well as handing Yvan Muller a top five result after a difficult race for the Frenchman.

The Volvo had earlier finished eighth in race one, and its exclusion moves both Tom Chilton and the second Polestar Cyan entry of Fredrik Ekblom up a position, before elevating Lada's Nicky Catsburg into the top ten.
