James Thompson has landed a second outing with ALL-INKL.com Munnich Motorsport by stepping in for Rene Munnich in Morocco next month.
The two-time British Touring Car Champion filled in for Munnich in Slovakia as the German driver had a clash of commitments with World Rallycross.
While returning for last weekend's third round in Hungary, Munnich will once again be absent due to World Rallycross and after impressing on his debut with the team Thompson will return to the wheel of the Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 in Marrakech.
Munnich Motorsport team manager Dominik Greiner feels it was the logical call to give Thompson another shot after he narrowly missed out on the points in Slovakia and feels he can now target the top ten after becoming familiar with the Chevrolet.
“James is a very good driver and a legend with four WTCC wins,” Greiner said. “He did well in Slovakia for what was his first race in 12 months, his first race with our team and his first time in the Chevrolet. He was P5 in Free Practice 2 and was really unlucky not to progress further in qualifying.
“With René facing another calendar clash it made perfect sense to give James another chance. Although the objective will be to bring the car back in one piece on what is partly a street circuit after all, he will be able to directly on full power because he knows the potential of the car now.”
Last weekend Munnich secured the team's first points finish of the year with 10th place in race one at the Hungaroring.
