Rob Huff has qualified on pole position for the fourth round of the World Touring Car Championship at the revised Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Morocco after benefitting from an error for Jose Maria Lopez.
The Englishman headed up an impressive Honda 1-2-3, Huff shrugging off running only second in the final five-car shootout to set a time good enough to rebuff the efforts of his rivals.
Team-mates Norbert Michelisz and Tiago Monteiro will line up behind him second and third respectively, the Hungarian getting particularly close in his Civic, just 0.036secs off pole.
Last to go for his time, championship leader Lopez had looked on course for pole position as he set fastest sectors times, only to damage his Citroen in the final stages around the newly configured Marrakech circuit, which has been made semi-permanent. He starts fourth, ahead of Nicky Catsburg.
Title contender Yvan Muller gets away from sixth place, ahead of Tom Coronel, Thed Bjork, Hugo Valente and James Thompson, the Munnich Chevrolet driver set to start from pole position in the reverse grid race one.
