Tom Coronel has produced a dominant reserve pole race win in the opener at Vila Real for ROAL Chevrolet ahead of Tom Chilton and Nicky Catsburg.
Having finished tenth in qualifying Coronel duly landed pole for race one at the Portuguese event and was made to battle for his second victory of the season as he repeat his feat from the street circuit at Marrakech.
Chilton in the Sebastien Loeb Racing Citroen kept the Dutch driver honest throughout, eventually settling for second just over half a second behind, but was unable to find a way through on the tight and twisty street track of Vila Real.
Further back Nick Catsburg led Lada to another podium in third place after he fended off Mehdi Bennani as World Touring Car Championship leader Jose Maria Lopez led home title Rob Huff.
Thed Bjork grabbed an impressive seventh place in the Polestar Cyan Volvo as Norbert Michelisz, Yvan Muller and main race pole-sitter Tiago Monteiro rounded out the points-paying positions.
