Termas de Rio Hondo: Lopez sent to back of grid after engine change

Jose Maria Lopez has been sent to the back of the grid for race one at his home WTCC round after being forced into an engine change.
Jose Maria Lopez has been sent to the back of the grid for race one at his home WTCC round after being forced into an engine change in his factory Citroen.

The reigning WTCC champion had secured pole in qualifying at Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina after his fellow countryman was stripped of his Superpole time after failing to stop at pit exit before his out lap.

With the pole applying to the main race two, Lopez had been due to start a reserve grid 10th in race one but will start from last due to the penalty triggered by the engine change.

Penalties apply to the next race directly after an engine change and as a result Lopez will start from last place on the grid in race one but keeps his pole position for the main race two.
