Augusto Farfus has given BMW its first win of the World Touring Car Championship season after securing victory in the second race of the weekend in Valencia.
Farfus jumped from fifth on the grid to second on the opening lap behind team-mate Jorg Muller and was able to find a way through into the lead on the third lap before going on to secure victory as the BMW Team Germany duo broke away at the front of the field.
Behind them, Gabriele Tarquini secured third place but only after a long battle with Andy Priaulx, who constantly hounded the SEAT driver and briefly edged ahead on lap eight before the Italian used the extra torque of his diesel engine to get back ahead and claim the final place on the podium.
Alex Zanardi took fifth ahead of ROAL Motorsport partner Sergio Hernandez, while Yvan Muller held off the challenge of Tiago Monteiro to take seventh.
Leading Independent runner Stefano D'Aste took ninth and the class victory ahead of Tom Coronel, who had started from the front row of the grid but went backwards when the lights went out.
Chevrolet failed to score after a difficult race, with Alain Menu the top driver in twelfth place.
