  • Yvan Muller cruises to his first WTCC win of the season in the damp at Paul Ricard
  • Sebastien Loeb charges from the back of the grid to finish second
  • Gabriele Tarquini prevents a Citroen whitewash in third place

Yvan Muller has taken a dominant first World Touring Car Championship win of the season at Paul Ricard after benefitting from the grid demotion of his Citroen team-mates to reel off an unchallenged victory.

Promoted to pole position after both Sebastien Loeb and Jose Maria Lopez were put to the back of the grid after failing technical checks, though Muller would lose out to Gabriele Tarquini off the line, once he was back in front he would cruise to the chequered flag.

Crossing the line 12secs ahead of the opposition in damp, slippery conditions, it marks Muller's first win with Citroen and goes a long way to making up for his costly DNF in Morocco.

Showing his racing credentials once more, Loeb charged up the order to finish in second position, with Honda's Tarquini doing enough to prevent a Citroen whitewash in third place, with Lopez falling just short in fourth.

Having struggled in the dry, the LADA Granta of Rob Huff would come to life in the slippery conditions, the former champion picking his way up the order from 11th on the grid to grab fifth place, Huff and Hugo Valente both passing Norbert Michelisz.

Tiago Monteiro, Tom Chilton and James Thompson completed the top ten in a race that saw no retirements, despite the tricky conditions.

In TC2, Franz Engstler turned in his third straight class victory.
