Sebastien Loeb has taken his second World Touring Car Championship win of the season at a sodden Slovakia Ring, which was stopped early due to worsening conditions.
Starting second on the grid, Loeb got the better start over pole sitter Jose Maria Lopez and proceeded to keep his Citroen team-mate at bay until the safety car was deployed due to standing water on the circuit, with the race canned and declared shortly afterwards.
Loeb's second win of the season, after also succeeding in Morocco, it was Lopez in second place that arguably enjoyed the biggest gains overall as he extended his lead over Yvan Muller in the standings to 25 points.
The Frenchman endured a difficult race when he jumped the start and was forced to serve a drive-thru penalty, leaving him down in tenth place when the race was stopped.
As such, Norbert Michelisz was able to pick up his first podium of the season in the Zengo Honda Civic, holding off the Chevrolets of Tom Coronel, Tom Chilton and Gianni Morbidelli in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
A tough race for Honda, Tiago Monteiro and Gabriele Tarquini could only manage seventh and eighth, while Rob Huff picked up points for LADA in ninth.
