Khalil Beschir was content with his efforts following two difficult rounds of the A1 Grand Prix in Sepang, the Lebanese driver overcoming hot, humid and wet conditions to claim his first double finish in the championship.

Taking the reigns from Basil Shaaban for this race, Beschir was opted for after driving at the Malaysian round in 2005, but found his added experience was unable to help him to qualify any higher than the back row of the grid.

Nonetheless, Beschir kept his head down in both races, particularly the treacherous feature event to claim solid, if unspectacular 17th and 19th place finishes.

"I had two extremely different races today," he admitted. "The first one challenged me with the heat and humidity, while the Feature race was very tough with the track being waterlogged in places, and slippery for most of the lap.

"I could hardly see ahead of me at the start so I was very cautious at the beginning of the Feature race. I was pleased to have improved on my start position by the end of the Sprint race."

Team principal Tony Snook was also pleased to see Beschir complete two race distances, pointing out it is his first A1 race for a year.

"We're pleased that Khalil completed the two race distances today in very difficult conditions, especially the Feature race which was run in atrocious weather and particularly as it has been a year since his last racing outing in the A1GP car."
