Last year's Formula BMW World Final winner Marco Holzer made his A1GP bow in today's rookie session in Sentul, just two weeks on from his maiden Formula One test.

The 18-year-old finished third in Formula BMW Germany this season, and waxed lyrical about his A1GP debut following his first laps in the 520bhp machine around the Indonesian circuit.

"I'm overwhelmed that I was given the opportunity to tip-toe into the A1GP Series," the Bobingen ace enthused afterwards. "The A1GP car is pretty fast, it gives you a good feeling and changing gears with the paddles behind the steering wheel is good fun too.

"I've only seen the A1GP Series on television so far and I always had the desire to race there. Together with the Formula One test courtesy of BMW-Sauber, this chance in A1GP is the most wonderful Christmas present I could have dreamed of."

Regular driver Nico H?lkenberg, meanwhile, returned to the cockpit for the afternoon's practice, settling himself back in and lapping eighth-quickest as he bids to register Germany's third victory of an impressive campaign.

"After a test in the GP2 series a week ago, I had to get used again to the A1GP car again," the 19-year-old acknowledged. "When the new tyres provided perfect grip, I wasn't good enough yet - I was braking way too late and my driving style was too aggressive.

"There is a positive aspect though - the car's balance is excellent as usual and we managed very good and consistent times later on in the session, so I am optimistic for qualifying on Saturday when you need to squeeze every ounce out of the package."
