Newly-crowned 2006-07 A1GP champion Team Germany got off to a strong start on the opening day of the final round of the current season at Brands Hatch this weekend, as it bids to sign off an illustrious campaign in fitting style.

Although he had to sit out the morning rookie session due to his greater experience, F3 Euroseries ace Nico H?lkenberg made short work of getting to grips with a track he had never visited before by posting the fifth-quickest time in the afternoon. The 19-year-old is confident there is more still to come.

"The learning curve on this picturesque and very demanding circuit is clearly visible," he commented afterwards. "I drove my fastest lap just before the end of the session even though I didn't use new tyres and the used rubber was long past its best. The more laps I did the more I became accustomed to the track and its many blind corners, crests and bumps.

"The car was excellent from the word go. We only changed the camber and adjusted the wing settings slightly, but I feel much more at home in the cockpit than I did last time in Shanghai."

Sunday's 20-minute sprint race will begin at 11am, with the longer 70-minute feature due to get underway at 3pm.
