A1 Team Australia has made moves to improve its engineering squad for the coming season by signing the experienced Rob Arnott from A1 Team China.

Arnott headed China's engineering set-up last season but he will now switch teams for Season Three.

Arnott has more than 30 years worth of engineering experience in various motorsport formula. According to an official statement, the team were impressed with his 'skills and intuition', and pointed to his work with China in 2006/07, who won the A1GP award for Most Improved Team.

Arnott is now looking forward to a new challenge, and help the team improve on the 13th-place finish it has achieved in each of the last two seasons.

"A1 Team Australia has made some fantastic strides forward in the close season and has clearly set out its ambition to be a competitive force in the coming year,' Arnott told official website a1gp.com. "My aim is to steer this ambition from the pit to the track.

"I'm delighted to join forces with [team boss] Alan Jones, who I first met at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1979, and the very promising [driver] Ian Dyk, who clearly has a great future ahead of him.'

Arnott begins the position this month, in preparation for the official A1GP test at Silverstone on August 28-29.
