India have confirmed that national motorsport hero Narain Karthikeyan will return to the team to lead their assault on the new A1 Grand Prix season.

Karthikeyan made a high profile debut with the team last season and despite some patchy races as he acclimatised to the new machinery, he went on to score their best ever result of fourth place at the season ending round at Brands Hatch.

Now the former Jordan F1 driver and Williams tester has pledged his short-term future to representing his nation, where he is expected to make the team one of the early pre-season favourites.

Getting back into the cockpit for this week's test at Silverstone, Karthikeyan is delighted to be competing in A1 GP again and has set his sights of getting an immediate win when the season get underway at Zandvoort.

"The Silverstone session is a good chance to get used to the car, team and competitors and get A1 Team India's third season off to the best possible start. I will not be content until I win for India."
