Adam Khan has talked up A1 Team Pakistan's chances for forthcoming season and believes his team can be fighting for a top ten finish in the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

Khan was capped 16 times for the team in the 2005/06 season, but chose to concentrate on his university studies last season when Nur Ali was driving for the team.

He was recalled to the squad to test at Silverstone last week, however no official announcement has been made about the driver choice for the coming season.

Last week's test at Silverstone was the first time Khan had driven an A1GP car since finishing fifth in the Shanghai Feature race at the end of 2005/06. He demonstrated strong pace on the second day by recording the seventh fastest time of the morning session. It was ultimately good enough for the 11th fastest time overall at the test.

After seeing his test pace, Khan reckons that he can be up running in the top ten from the off at Zandvoort on 30 September.

"I do believe we stand a very good chance of making real improvements on the performance of the team over the last two years," Khan told the official A1GP website. "It is just a case of testing and getting some good miles in the car and we could be right up there with the best.

"Last week's test was about getting the rust off me and getting the mind and body working and flowing together. The test was good and I'm ready to go."

However, Khan did admit there are challenges that lie ahead should he be selected, including the quality of the field that is running this season and the possibility of learning the tracks that he hasn't raced before due his absence in Season Two.

"Obviously some of the other drivers have distinct advantage in that they know the tracks better than I do," Khan added, "but I just wouldn't think about it and I'll try and do the job as best as I can. I would have to learn and follow other guys on the early laps of practice to see what they are doing.

"I was really proud to be recalled to the team and represent Pakistan, and I hope that I'll be announced as the lead driver in the not too distant future. I'll be going for points finishes in every race."

A1 Team Pakistan is expected to release information about plans for the future of the team at the second Silverstone test on 18-19 September.
