Neel Jani will return to race for A1 Team Switzerland in this year's A1 Grand Prix series, although the Champ Car frontrunner will share seat time with rising F3 star Sebastien Buemi.

The 23-year old A1GP 'veteran' has been testing for the team during the summer, and recorded the third fastest time at last week's official pre-season sessions at Silverstone, when he teamed up with new engineer James Robinson for the first time. Jani will take advantage of the seven-week break in Champ Car commitments to race in the season-opener at Zandvoort this weekend.

"We tried a lot of things at the test last week and I hope we can take the pace we had to Zandvoort," the former F1 test driver said, "I'm getting on well with James. He totally understands what I need. We tried different things at the test last week and, in the end, we got a decent lap times - and there is a lot more potential.

"We finished runner-up in the first season, so we have to aim one better than that. That's what we've got to go for. We've had pole positions and wins, now we need to aim for more and hope we don't have any bad luck."

Buemi, who raced twelve times for the team last season, will also be a part of the squad this season, although he will not race at Zandvoort.

"It is good to have Neel back in the car for this weekend [but], with Sebastien too, we have the best two drivers in Switzerland racing for us," seat holder Max Welti commented, "I can't wait for the season to start."

Although there was no official confirmation, Welti is considered 'almost certain' to put at least one of the team's two female test drivers into a full-time rookie role this season, after Rahel Frey and Natacha Gachnang both spent time at the wheel during testing at Silverstone.
