Juan Pablo Garcia Samano has been confirmed as the first rookie driver to get his chance with A1 Team Mexico this season, having impressed in pre-season testing with the squad at Silverstone.

Executive vice-president Julio Jauregui made the announcement on the eve of the opening round in Holland, confirming that Garcia would attend the Dutch race before becoming fully involved with the team from round two in the Czech Republic.

"We were very happy with his performance during the two testing sessions we had in England," Jauregui said, "In the Netherlands, Juan Pablo will be with us during the race weekend to learn from Salvador Duran and the team, as part of a comprehensive development for the season. His first opportunity to drive the car during this season will be in the event at Brno, in the middle of October."

Garcia has spent this year in the National Class of the British F3 Championship, and is looking forward to taking a step up in performance.

"I am very excited because now I am with the team as a rookie driver and this is a great opportunity for my racing career," he said, "I am looking forward to drive the car. I am already at the track to start learning and working with the team. It is going to be an enjoyable weekend, and I am going to get as much as possible out of it so I can work at Brno in the best way possible."
