Ferrari has confirmed speculation that it is in discussion with the A1 Grand Prix Series about a prospective engine deal for the 2008-09 season.

Although there was no formal announcement that a deal could be forthcoming, a spokesman confirmed to Reuters that talks were ongoing regarding a future tie-up. A1GP currently uses Zytek-powered Lola chassis, and there have been few complaints about the equipment in the two seasons completed so far.

Any engine supplied to the series would have to be designed, or modified, to run on bio-ethanol fuel, which A1GP is keen to use despite a setback meaning that it did not debut at last week's 2007-08 season-opener in Holland.
