James Winslow will get his second A1 Grand Prix outing with Team GBR this weekend, aiming to stake a claim to a regular role with the squad on familiar ground at Eastern Creek in Australia.

The Briton made a strong impression on team management with a diligent debut performance in the two rookie sessions at Taupo in New Zealand, where he conducted important early weekend work, bedding in engines and brakes for qualifying and the double-header races.

Despite it being both his first outing in the 550bhp Lola car and his first visit to the Taupo circuit, Winslow managed to post a time just over a second off the pace of the regular runners, earning himself a recall for the Australian round.

"I'm delighted that Team GBR has offered me a second run in the car at Eastern Creek this weekend," the 26-year old said, "I really enjoyed the Taupo weekend and, although the two sessions were hard work, I was more than happy to help. A1GP is different to other series because you get the chance to work as a team, and I was glad to play my part in preparing the car for the races."

The reigning Formula Renault V6 Asia champion will be instantly at home at Sydney's Eastern Creek circuit, having run there twice in last year's Australian F3 Championship, and expects to be closer to the top of the times in Friday's sessions.

"After Taupo, it will be good to go to a circuit that I already know, and that - as well as the fact that I am now more familiar with the car - should mean that I spend less time getting up to speed," Winslow added, "It will be another day of sorting the car for the rest of the weekend, and I don't expect the team to let me 'go for it', but I am confident of being closer to the pace this weekend. Team GBR are a great bunch of guys and I really hope that this won't be the last time we get to work together."

While he won't get to race the A1GP car this weekend, Winslow will be back in competitive action at Eastern Creek, having accepted a one-off chance to return to the national F3 championship.

"Thanks to my sponsor Opes Prime, I had the opportunity to rejoin Team BRM for the opening round of the championship, and jumped at the chance," he explained, "Eastern Creek is a great circuit to race at, and BRM is one of the best teams around, so I'm hoping to make the most of the opportunity and return to the top step of the podium."
