A1 Team Germany will aim to close the gap to leaders New Zealand as the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport heads to Durban for the seventh round of the season.

The team won both races in the South African city last season thanks to Nico Hulkenberg and heads to the seaside city 19 points off the championship lead this time around.

Michael Ammermuller will be at the wheel for team throughout the weekend and he admitted that I wouldn't be an easy circuit to get his head round on his first appearance.

"I always look forward to the challenge of new circuits and have shown that I can adapt quickly," he said. "I've been told that this event traditionally has a great atmosphere. However, the race will certainly be incredibly tough since you need to go to limit but not over on tight street circuits."

Seat holder Willi Weber admitted that the team was eager to overcome problems suffered in the recent rounds in Australia to keep its title challenge on track and said the focus was on bringing down to the gap to 'Black Beauty' as soon as possible.

"Fully motivated as always, but even more focussed than recently and the team should find its old form again," he said. "Many small problems, including two problematical pit stops cost us valuable points in Australia.

"Michael Ammermuller and the David Sears Motorsport race team have already shown that they can win this season. Now it's all about reducing the 19 point gap to the championship leaders as quickly as possible."
