Franck Montagny will join A1 Team France for the last two events of the 2007-2008 A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport in China and Britain.

The Frenchman, who has already signed a deal to compete at the Le Mans 24 Hours with Peugeot, will follow in the footsteps of Lo?c Duval and Jonathan Cochet, the former now no longer available due to his commitments in Formula Nippon.

"When A1 Team France asked me to race in the final rounds of the season I immediately checked my programme to see if I could give them a positive reply; then I accepted without hesitation," said the former Super Aguri man, who had been targeting a ride in Champ Car.

"It's going to be a difficult job but I'm happy to be able to make my contribution.

"On paper winning the title is within our possibilities. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the car and find out its potential."

Currently France is in third place in the overall classification - 20 points behind the leader, Switzerland.

While team boss, Olivier Panis agrees that it won't be easy to make up that deficit, he thinks Montagny will give them a good chance of achieving success.

"Pulling back 20 points in final races is going to be a tough challenge, but we're determined to do our absolute best to snatch the crown," Olivier added.

"Since the start of the season we've repeated that the title is our objective and Franck's arrival is a boost for the whole team. Welcome Franck!"
