A1 Grand Prix founder and CEO Sheikh Maktoum has expressed his admiration for the Paul Ricard HTTT facility where his creation is staging its second and final group test before next month's inaugural season opener at Brands Hatch.

Arriving to watch over the 20 national teams setting up for the test on Tuesday, the Sheikh took a close look at the track with Paul Ricard CEO Philippe Gurdjian, taking particular interest in the track 'solution' chosen by the teams for the three-day session and the two new turns - Petit Beausset and Suzuka - created by Gurdjian this year.

"If we chose to complete our last official test session at the Paul Ricard HTTT before the start of the season, it is because this track is simply fabulous," Sheikh Maktoum explained, "It is beautiful and convenient and, most of all, very safe for new and young drivers. The use of the infrastructures is really adapted to this kind of test, as well as for the drivers, the team managers and team guests, and also for the media. A lot of TV, photo and print media have been accredited to this session, which is very good for the start of the A1GP series."

Gurdjian was naturally happy to welcome another new series to his circuit, following on from regular appearances by GP2 and the World Series by Renault.

"The arrival of the A1 Grand Prix series at Paul Ricard demonstrates, once again, if this was necessary, that our infrastructure, our safety measures and our circuit are adapted, not only to all kind of testing, but also to the discovering of new cars and launch of new models, be it in motorsports or product manufacturing," he said.
