The A1 Grand Prix field will be reduced to just 24 teams for its second round this weekend, after Team Russia decided to sit out the trip to the Lausitzring in favour of reorganising its operation.

As a result, the red, white and blue Lola was not present at the German circuit as the other teams revealed which drivers would be racing 'for the pride of their nations' on Sunday.

While the usual suspects remained in place at many teams, such as Brazil, Britain, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, other squads have taken the opportunity of introducing new talent for this weekend's double-header. Christian Jones makes his first appearance for father Alan's Australian side, while Tomas Enge - free of IRL commitments - turns out for the Czech Republic. Ralph Firman is similarly available for Ireland this weekend - ironically as the series visits one of the venues familiar to team-mate Michael Devaney - while Mexico brings in David Fernandez for the F3 finale-bound Salvador Duran, and New Zealand substitutes Jonny Reid for Matt Halliday, who is required at Bathurst.

Along with Australia, a couple of midfield runners from Brands Hatch have taken the decision to swap drivers, with Tomas Scheckter likely to feature for South Africa and Hideki Noda for Japan. Britain remains committed to Robbie Kerr for this round, however, while France will decide between GP2 frontrunners Nicolas Lapierre and Alex Premat after practice. Neel Jani, Scott Speed, Ananda Mikola and Adam Khan all remain in place, but Brazil and Italy have taken the opportunity to nominate Fabio Carbone and Richard Antinucci respectively as reserves, although whether either will get a chance to run remains to be seen.

The first official practice session takes place this afternoon [Friday] at 1300hrs local time, with a second outing at 1600hrs. Final practice session and qualifying takes place on Saturday, with both races on Sunday afternoon.
