A1 Team Germany started its home race at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in fine style by setting top times in both free practice sessions.

Timo Scheider set the fourth fastest time overall for the Willi Weber-managed team during first practice, clocking 1min 35.043secs in the reliveried red, yellow and black Lola, before improving that mark to 1min 34.722secs to move up to third behind the French and Irish teams in the second hour-long session late in the afternoon.

"This is really a good start", said the satisfied 26-year old, "We worked on tuning the ride height, the damper set-up and the anti-roll bars during first practice and improved constantly."

Scheider completed 21 laps in the opening session, and added another 24 tours of the combined oval-road course in the second.

"We decided to run a longer final drive, which immediately proved to be very effective," he explained of the changes made to the German car during the break, "Furthermore, we set our best time at the end of the session, which gives me plenty of confidence as we showed that the direction we took is correct."

A third one-hour practice session is on the agenda for Saturday morning, before the grid positions are determined for the sprint race in afternoon qualifying.
