After their impressive display to get on the podium in Germany, Sean McIntosh and Team Canada continued their good form at the latest round of the A1 Grand Prix championship in Estoril, Portugal when they qualified well inside the top ten in seventh place.

Although Canada were a late entrant to the championship, signing up just days before the first round at Brands Hatch, both the team and their relatively inexperienced driver have belied their lack of test mileage to prove one of the championships pace setters so far. This is something McIntosh is keen to continue in the next two races.

"It was a pretty good session," McIntosh claimed. "Because we ran rain tyres we were only given three sets of slicks for the weekend which makes it a bit different to the other events. My first run was on old tyres to get up to speed - we hadn't really done a lap on a completely dry circuit so I was just learning a bit."

"Then the second run we put a new set of tyres on and we didn't quite have the balance. Then we ran with the same set of tyres for the third stint to learn a bit more and then the fourth run we put it all together. The car was where we needed it to be - if we'd had it like that for two runs we'd perhaps have been a bit further up the grid but I'm pleased with the progress and particularly the fifth fastest time of the day."

"It's been great to improve - from 21st on the grid at Brands Hatch to 13th at EuroSpeedway and now 7th is the right direction."
