British racing driver Katherine Legge had her first run in an A1 Grand Prix car in Dubai, completing some fifteen laps for Team Great Britain at the 5.39km Dubai Autodrome.

Legge, in Dubai this week before heading to the States to test a Champ Car, undertook the first running of the weekend for the Arden-run British squad, driving in two twenty minute practice sessions to set a best time of 1min 50.659secs.

"It was a fantastic experience," Katherine told Crash.net at the track. "Anything that you get into that's new to you makes you a better driver so at the end of the day I really appreciate John Surtees giving me this opportunity."

It was Legge's second experience of the A1 Grand Prix, having been a spectator at the first round of the series at Brands Hatch, and she was eager to praise the self-proclaimed 'World Cup of Motorsport'.

"It's a fantastic series," she said. "It's well put together and it's a great concept. I think it will be really successful."

Legge completed her laps without incident on the challenging undulating circuit, whilst the second session in which she ran saw former Formula one driver Alex Yoong have an off as he pushed to learn the circuit.

"How many people can say they've driven an A1 GP car? It's awesome," concluded Legge.
