With Russia again absent, 24 teams will line up for the two A1 Grand Prix races in Dubai this weekend and, for once, there are no real surprises amongst the nominated drivers.

While the appearance of Katherine Legge in the second British car, Scott Dixon in the second NZ entry and Phil Giebler as the latest try-out for the USA are all different to the previous round in Malaysia, all were speculated before the A1 circuit shipped up in the desert. Elsewhere, meanwhile, there is a sea of familiar faces.

Points leader France will continue its policy of rotating Alex Premat and Nicolas Lapierre, with the latter taking the hot seat in Dubai, while chief rivals Switzerland and Brazil continue with Neel Jani and Nelson Piquet Jr respectively. Britain, while slotting Legge in in place of Alex Lloyd as number two, will persevere with Robbie Kerr as race driver. Dixon will likewise take over the second NZ seat, but competition duties will be left to Matt Halliday. Giebler replaces Bryan Herta in the Team USA car.

Will Davison appears set to race for Australia, while Ralph Firman and Enrico Toccacelo keep the seats at Ireland and Italy respectively, despite all three teams having back-ups in place. Christian Jones will again run for the Australian team, with Michael Devaney and newcomer Massimiliano Busnelli supporting Firman and Toccacelo. Tuka Rocha returns to the role of reserve for Brazil, while Gavin Cronje gets a call-up to support Stephen Simpson in the South African team.

Adrian Sutil absent from Sepang with a broken thumb, returns to the German cockpit this weekend, as does Salvador Duran for Mexico, while 16-year old Armaan Ebrahim continues for Indian after an impressive display in Malaysia.
