France may have set the fastest time in the first practice session on Saturday in the A1 Grand Prix at the Dubai Autodrome, but the pace of the competition is certainly closing in, with Team Great Britain and Team Netherlands both putting laps to challenge French dominance.

With weather conditions not as hot as the previous day, and with the extra familiarity of the now cleaner track, times tumbled across the board as teams and drivers gained a better handle on the tricky but rewarding 5.39km, sixteen turn track.

Nicolas Lapierre was the top driver for much of the session, but Team GBR's Robbie Kerr did also figure at the top of the monitors, before ending the session with the second fastest time, a 1min 45.743secs to Lapierre's 1min 45.676.

Jos Verstappen in the orange Team Netherlands car was pushing hard to learn another new circuit for the well supported former F1 driver, and ended the last practice session before qualifying with the third fastest time, and a half spin during the course of the session too.

Elsewhere in the top ten runners it was pretty much the same cars as in Friday's sessions, but with a second covering the top sixteen cars the pace across the board as upped considerably from day one. Even the slowest car, that of Team Lebanon's Basil Shaaban, was just 1.5 seconds adrift of Lapierre's session best.
