A1 Team USA owner, Rick Weidinger has praised his new driver, Phil Giebler, after seeing him post the 15th quickest time in qualifying Saturday at Dubai - the latest round of the A1 GP of Nations World Cup.

Speaking following the four qualifying sessions, Weidinger predicted that Giebler will go even better Sunday in the two races.

"I think Phil did a wonderful job of keeping his head in the game as we progressed during the practice sessions and qualifying," he stated.

"Phil is definitely a talented driver and showed 'true grit' today during the morning practice and afternoon qualifying. We have yet to see the best of Phil and I fully expect him to move up the grid Sunday and secure important points for Team USA."

Giebler meanwhile is excited to be driving for his country.

"It is amazing being in Dubai and racing for A1 Team USA," he continued. "I am very proud to represent my country. The series is highly competitive, and although there is a steep learning curve, we have progressed and I am feeling part of the team."
