The Italian A1 Grand Prix squad opened up the day in Dubai with the top time in the morning's fifteen minute practice session at the Dubai Autodrome ahead of Sunday's two races for the sixth round of the championship.

Even though there was a mere fifteen minutes on offer, the fastest times in the session on the track, used for the first time of the day, were in the 1min 45s.

Enrico Toccacelo put in his fast lap before the session was ended by a red flag from local driver Basil Shaaban in the Team Lebanon car spinning and ending up stranded in the middle of the track, when the session was due to end in any case.

Brazil, with Nelson Piquet Jr at the wheel, went second fastest, whilst Team Great Britain and Robbie Kerr were the third quickest.

Front row duo Switzerland and France set the twelfth and thirteenth fastest times in the largely meaningless shakedown for the afternoon's race action.
