Neel Jani took all that his rivals could throw at him - as well as the conditions at Sentul - to secure a second row start for the eighth round of the A1 Grand Prix series at Sentul in Indonesia.

If the unpredictable conditions were not enough to contend with, the rainy season making life difficult through practice on both Friday and Saturday, the Team Switzerland driver also had to cope with a mistake of his own and a bit of forceful driving from Italian rival Max Busnelli.

"It was a very interesting qualifying session," Jani said, "It was difficult because the weather conditions between the sessions changed completely from wet to dry, but to qualify on the second row means we'll have to work hard in tomorrow's races.

"I made a small mistake in the second session and oversteered in the last corner. I then wanted to improve but, in the third outing, I had a problem with Team Italy blocking me - I almost had to take to the grass!

"In the fourth session, the rain spoilt my chances, so it just did not work out. I'm satisfied that my time protected my position on the second row, but we had the potential to be higher up. The races tomorrow will be interesting, and I'm sure that the weather will play a key role."
