Having previously competed in Australia and Malaysia, Bryan Herta is set to return to the Team USA car when the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport heads Stateside to Laguna Seca for the first time next month.

Herta, who finished eighth in the IRL standings last season driving for Andretti Green Racing, will look to build on recent results - which has seen the American squad secure top-ten finishes in four of the last six races - on a circuit he already knows well, having won there in the past in the Champ Car World Series.

"I am proud to represent the United States," he said. "I have heard from several of my peers who are amongst the quickest road course drivers in the world and they too will be representing their countries at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

"A1 Grand Prix is fast becoming known for delivering a most competitive brand of racing, due to the fact that the cars are identical in chassis and engine. I expect that this is going to be a particularly exciting weekend."

Team owner Rick Weidinger said he was pleased that Herta will be competing in the teams race- adding that he was hopeful that the drivers past performances could be repeated.

"Bryan has an excellent history at Laguna Seca and is now familiar with the 'We the People' car and A1 race format," he said. "We welcome him back as he adds value to the team in more ways then just racing. I know how much it means to him to compete at the highest levels and we look forward to his success for Team USA on 12 March."
