A1 Grand Prix Team Malaysia driver Alex Yoong is hoping that his experience of the Fondiodora Park race circuit in Monterrey, Mexico, will help as he tackles the ninth round of the championship.

Yoong, driving for the Proton-backed squad, took a second place at the last event in Sentul, Indonesia, another circuit where the former Formula 1, Champ Car and V8 Supercar driver had previously raced.

"There are only a few A1GP drivers with experience of this circuit, so I hope that I have the edge on some of the others at the beginning of the weekend," says Yoong.

"This track hasn't been used for a while, so it's very dusty and will take some cleaning during the practice sessions before we see just how quick these cars can be at this parkland venue."

Team Malaysia's team principal, Jack Cunningham, reckons the result in Indonesia was exactly what was needed. "The team's second place finish really gave us a welcome boost. To achieve a podium was just a great lift for us and the team's fans at home in Malaysia," says Cunningham.

"Can we go higher and lift the winner's trophy? We're out to do the best that we can at each weekend race. The team will be working hard to do everything possible for the best result we can achieve here in Mexico."
