Patrick Friesacher completed his first qualifying session in the A1 Grand Prix driving for Team Austria and, after qualifying in eighteenth place, conceded that he's still getting to terms with the new series.

Friesacher did, however, outqualify the other Patrick making his A1 Grand Prix debut, namely Patrick Carpentier, the five-time Champ Car race winner ending up one place further down the grid.

"It's a bit disappointing but it's only my first time in the car and I'm still learning a lot," explains Friesacher. "It wasn't too bad in qualifying to start with but I couldn't get any grip on the front tyres and I just couldn't do any more. We have two races tomorrow though, so I will just try as hard as I can to get a good result in the first race to set us up better for the second race."
