The A1 Grand Prix at Laguna Seca will now take place according to a statement issued by the series organisers.

Teams had been told that the event was off and flights and hotels been cancelled, but the organisers have reversed their earlier decision and now say the American round of the championship will take place at the California circuit.

The release cited that an initial inspection of the circuit by the series officials had raised concerns regarding the amount of rain which had fallen at the circuit.

However, subsequent 'substantial' discussions with the circuit apparently put aside the officials' reservations and the race will now take place.

"Despite challenges brought on by the prevailing weather conditions, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is confident that the track will be presented to the necessary standard required to host an A1 Grand Prix event," said A1 Grand Prix chief operating officer, David Clare. "We will now continue to work with the circuit to ensure the US race meets the impeccable standards dictated by A1GP."
