A1 Team Malaysia has announced it will carry out a five lap demonstration run of the team's car during the Japan GT event at Sepang International Circuit on June 25th.

The car, which former F1 driver Alex Yoong drove to victory in his home round of the inaugural A1 championship, has been in Malaysia since early May and toured to various locations for the public to get a glimpse of the car.

The 3.4 litre V8 powered machine was shared by Alex Yoong and compatriot Fairuz Fauzy last season and between them they managed to help Team Malaysia to fifth place overall in the World Cup of Motorsport.

"We were asked by the management of Sepang International Circuit whether we would be prepared to put the car on display at the circuit during the Japan GT weekend," said Yoong, "and we thought we could go one better than that. So, on Sunday afternoon I will do a few laps in front of the crowd to remind them to be supporting A1 Team Malaysia as we prepare for our second A1 season."

Following the event the car will leave Malaysian shores for Silverstone where the team will prepare for the upcoming official A1 test before the opening round of the new A1 season at Zandvoort in October.

"The Malaysian fans were very supportive of the team at last year's A1 race, wearing the yellow shirts sponsored by The Berjaya Group," said Team Malaysia's chief executive Jack Cunningham, "this is an opportunity to thank the fans for their support and give them a taste of what's to come in the next season."
