A1 Team Great Britain will make an early start to its pre-season evaluation programme when reigning McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Oliver Jarvis gets a run in its car at Pembrey next week.

The F3 frontrunner will join Canadians James Hinchcliffe and Kevin Lacroix at the Welsh venue as their respective A1 teams take the opportunity to sample promising young talent, although John Surtees - who has a hand in both operations - insists that Jarvis will be under no pressure to impress at this stage.

"This is very much a 'getting to know you' session, so there's no pressure on Oliver to go out and set the world alight with stunning lap times," Surtees said, "We're interested in testing him based on his previous performances and the ability shown in his racing to date. We wanted to do an evaluation in preparation for the official A1GP test, which takes place in August, and Pembrey enjoys a reputation as a great test track, so we decided to head there."

Jarvis, the reigning Formula Renault UK champion, will have his first taste of the 500bhp A1GP car on Monday, once it has been given an initial shake-down by the last man to have raced it in anger, Darren Manning.
