A1 Grand Prix rookie Niko Hulkenberg shook the series establishment by setting the fastest time of the weekend in the third qualifying segment at Zandvoort to put Team Germany top of the pile with just one session remaining.

A 1min 27.661secs lap around the blustery but dry Dutch circuit pushed Hulkenberg passed Team Mexico's Salvador Duran in the overall reckoning with Hulkenberg's consistency across all three sessions so far proving to be the deciding factor.

Duran stopped the clocks in 1min 27.966secs to retain second place on the overall grid although the Team Mexico driver was only fourth fastest in the segment, beaten for the first time by Team Great Britain's Darren Manning and Team France's Nicolas Lapierre.

Just three tenths of a second cover the top six nations on the current grid with Holland third, South Africa fourth, France fifth and Britain sixth.
