With the Dutch sea breeze stiffening and some ominous clouds appearing on the horizon the opening qualifying session of the year reached its half way point at Zandvoort with Team Mexico still ahead.

Mexican driver Salvador Duran may have been eclipsed by a stunning lap from Team USA's Phil Giebler in segment two but fourth fastest time was enough for him to maintain Mexico's overall advantage on combined times.

Giebler's 1:27.894secs effort was the fastest time set in qualifying thus far and helped moved Team USA safely inside the top ten overall while Duran's solid 1:28.572secs lap meant that Mexico holds a comfortable lead with two segments remaining.

Team Holland's Jeroen Bleekemolen was second fastest in the session and the home nation lies third on the overall grid behind Team South Africa and the spectacular rookie Adrian Zaugg.

As they did in segment one Team Great Britain waited until the final moments of the session before sending Darren Manning out with tenth fastest time being the net result. Team GBR currently lie eleventh on the combined grid with Team Ireland languishing in 19th.
