Xandi Negrao added another string to his bow by driving an A1 GP car for the first time in practice for the Czech round of the series at Brno, the GP2 driver eager to return to the Brazilian team over the season.

Taking part in the rookie sessions prior to official practice, Negrao has had a busy week of testing, resuming duties for the Piquet Sports team with which he raced in GP2 this season, before making his debut in A1 GP alongside nominated race driver Tuka Rocha.

However, it was not an entirely satisfying day after having spent the first session getting to grips with the unique single-seater and then losing the crucial final ten minutes of the second session with a problem.

Nonetheless, he claimed the 13th and 15th fastest times out of 20 runners, with Negrao pronouncing himself satisfied with his performance and whetting his appetite for more.

"I enjoyed myself today. It was my first time in the A1 car and my first time on this track so I started out just by learning the circuit and getting used to car. I struggled a bit on my first outing because I was still learning the corners but, after a few laps, I started to push a bit more.

"Unfortunately I couldn't finish the session because there was a problem with the car but I'm happy to do what I did. I hope that I helped a little bit and I can't wait to come back and join the team again soon."
