Jonny Reid is just 15 minutes away from securing Team New Zealand's first A1 Grand Prix pole position after continuing his perfect streak in qualifying segment three.

With the majority of the 23 nations opting to bring their fresh tyres out for the final two segments the times dropped noticeably in segment three with Reid's 1min 45.040secs more than half a second faster than anyone else had managed throughout the first two sessions.

As he was in session one, Team Germany's Niko Hulkenberg was second fastest in session three with a lap of 1 min 45.499secs but will need to go nearly one full second faster than Reid in the final 15 minute session if he harbours any hope of pole position.

Malaysia, China, USA and Great Britain were the only other countries in the 1min 45secs bracket while home crowd hero Tomas Enge was eighth fastest and France's Nicolas Lapierre only 16th.
