Despite track action being curtailed on the new and untried Beijing street circuit, the A1GP team still had to commit to their drivers for the weekend, with the usual mix of new and familiar faces signing on.

With Ryan Briscoe involved in the Champ Car finale in Mexico City, Karl Reindler gets another shot in the Team Australia car, while Brazil is expected to run Champ Car Atlantic pacesetter Raphael Matos ahead of previous incumbent Tuka Rocha. Loic Duval partners Nicolas Lapierre at Team France, although it is not clear who will race the tricolour car. Enrico Toccacelo returns for Team Italy and Christian Murchison for Singapore, while Graham Rahal's decision to concentrate on landing a Champ Car ride for 2007 has allowed Alex Khateeb to join Khalil Beschir Basil Shaaban at Team Lebanon. It is Neel Jani's return to the Swiss line-up, however, that has created the biggest stir.

British F3 frontrunner Oliver Jarvis will be Team GB's only driver this weekend, its third in as many rounds after Darren Manning and Robbie Kerr took part in rounds one and two respectively, and the youngster will be joined by fellow newcomers Ryan Hunter-Reay (Team USA) and Wade Cunningham (Team NZ).

Missing from the line-up this weekend, however, will be Team Greece, which has decided to re-align it operation and 'work on its competitive edge' for future races. The team's problem has been compounded by the fact that the driver selected to compete in Beijing is currently on national service and has not been allowed leave for the weekend. Greece is expected to re-join the series for the Malaysian round later this month.
