Team RPM has announced that it is to run a Ford GT in the 2009 Avon Tyres British GT Championship.

The team, which lifted the title in 2007 with Alex Mortimer and Bradley Ellis, is due to take delivery of a car from Matech Racing in the not-to-distant future, with plans in place to run the car alongside at least one of the Dodge Vipers as campaigned by the team for the past two years.

RPM has previous experience of the Ford having run one car in a guest capacity during the 2008 race weekend at Snetterton.

"We gave the Ford GT its British racing debut last year, and won first time out, at Snetterton," Mortimer said. "That one-off drive really whetted our appetite for more, and we can't wait to get our hands on the Ford and begin our testing programme. The GT looks stunning and will be as fast as it looks.

"We are talking to a number of drivers about the coming season and interest in the team and our cars is running high."

RPM could also continue to run GT4 machines during the season ahead, having run multiple Ginetta G50s in 2008.
