2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship leader Tommy Hill is confident the new Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit will help to facilitate overtaking when the BSB circus arrives there in late September - contending that the majority of British tracks are too 'tight and twisty' to allow for much wheel-to-wheel action.

Despite his crash at Cadwell Park last time out - his first DNF of the campaign - Hill continues to head the title standings by the albeit reduced margin of 36 points over closest challenger Stuart Easton, still on paper a handy advantage. With a break in his schedule, the Worx Crescent Suzuki star was invited to try out Silverstone's ultra-fast new layout on a road-going bike - and he palpably liked what he saw.

"So far, it looks pretty good," the 25-year-old enthused, speaking to Crash.net Radio. "I'm amazed at what's going on and the amount of work they're putting into it - it's good to have a British circuit that they're doing a bit of work with and moving forward. I was shocked to see how much work was still going on - it's like a construction site - but the track is actually up-and-running, and it's looking good.

"It's fast and flowing, and you've still got some of the British characteristics - you've got some really tight chicanes, and then it opens up again. The track is wide as well, which is good; a lot of British circuits are really thin, tight and twisty with not a lot of run-off, but you come to Silverstone and they've moved forward. I'm really impressed.

"The thing at the minute with British circuits is - believe-it-or-not - it's quite hard to pass, because when you're at the front and amongst the top three or four riders, they're on the limit on the brakes, so for someone to actually overtake them on the brakes is hard work.

"If you've got another 30 or 40-feet of run-off, you'd make the move, maybe stuff it up the inside and if you both run off, you run off. At a lot of British tracks, you've not got places to run off - but so far, it looks like there are a lot of places we can make the moves here. I just want to get out there on my Superbike and do a few laps now!"
