BSB explains Croft loss

The newly announced 2012 British Superbike Championship calendar does not feature a round at Croft.

A statement on BSB's official Facebook page explained why:

"For all fans asking about Croft. It's disappointing not to have a round in the North East and we've always appreciated the great work organisations such as the NYRRSC put into racing. The simple fact is that Croft was offered a 2012 round but sadly for them they are working under extremely tough operating conditions, probably the most of any UK circuit with only 40 operational days use a year.

"BSB accounts for three of those days and they made a decision that they need to maximise those 40 days use on a risk free basis I.e. basic track hire as opposed to the outlay of running a major promoted meeting. Also almost uniquely for them they have very little infrastructure on site to create additional revenue streams with no permanent catering facility for example."

A new round at Assen, in The Netherlands, has been added to the 2012 BSB calendar.
