After his practice and qualifying had gone so well Karl Harris was looking forward to the race. From second on the grid Karl again made his now standard flying start.

Leading into the first turn but starting from the pit lane was the man who would change the out come of the race, Simon Andrews. Andrews had a problem on the warm up lap with his brake lever and came in to change to his spare bike; his start with a 10 second delay put him under pressure to ride to his best limit. Mean while at the front John McGuinness had taken the lead and at one point Matt Llewellyn had pushed Karl back to 3rd with Rob Frost right in therein 4th. Championship leader Kirk McCarthy had developed a major clutch problem with his CBR Honda which forced him into the pits and eventually out of the points.

As a Gap developed at the front for McGuinness, Andrews was trying too hard to make up ground at the back of the field and crashed on the exit of 'Mansfield' to bring out the pace car. As the riders closed up again behind the car their lap times dropped from 1 minute 30's to 2 minutes letting their tyre temperatures drop over the next 4 laps. Karl's Dunlops came out best as the pace car pulled back into the pits and the race got back under way. Karl pushed his Crescent Suzuki GSXR to the front and was now headed again to the flag, taking a great win and new lap record. This string of fantastic results and the problems for Honda's McCarthy have moved Karl and the team into second place overall only 7 points from the lead with 4 races left, a great position to be in.

Kim Ashkenazi had another good ride at yet another new track. In only his 5th ride on the E.T.I Elec-Track / MSS Performance 600 Kawasaki he qualified 8th but the pace car went against him in the race. His tyres cooled too much and it took a couple of laps after the car to get them back to temperature. He did however then closed to within a 10th of a second of taking 5th at the flag. This very strong 6th place following his performance at Knockhill, has strengthened his team going into the latter part of the season.
