Team Kawasaki head for the final round of the 2001 British Superbike Championship at Donington Park this weekend and, after an impressive win in his last outing at Rockingham Speedway, team rider, Michael Rutter, is confident of achieving the results necessary to secure a top five finish in the championship standings.

"We go to Donington Park on a high after the Rockingham victory, but we definitely won't be resting on our laurels this weekend," said Rutter. "The forty-five points we picked up for a first and second at the last round have moved us up to sixth place in the championship standings, just one point behind Paul Brown, but, if I'm to realise my ambition of finishing in the top five, I know I've got to finish on the podium in both races at Donington."

"The team proved at Rockingham that the factory Kawasaki ZX-7RR is an outstanding all-round package and, with it's flowing nature and high speed corners, the Donington circuit really suits the bike," continued Rutter, the only rider to have won a British Superbike race on a four-cylinder machine this season. "It would be nice to end the season with another race win and that's exactly what I'll be aiming for this weekend."

Team Manager, Simon Buckmaster; "Team Kawasaki aren't in this championship just to make up the numbers and Michael's win at Rockingham proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. We knew we had a race winner in the factory Kawasaki ZX-7RR at the start of the year and, if the team hadn't been let down by our title sponsor mid-season, I'm confident that we'd have racked up our first race win long before Rockingham."

"Michael is determined to finish top five in the championship this season and, with the form he's shown in recent weeks, there's no reason why he shouldn't realise his goal at the final round of the series," continued former Grand Prix and World Endurance rider, Buckmaster. "With the amount of hard work the team have put into preparing the bikes for Donington Park, I'm confident that we'll see Michael back on the podium this weekend."
