Contrary to reports in the motorcycle racing press recently, Britain's Michael Rutter will today put pen to paper with the newly-formed Renegade Ducati outfit for the 2002 British Superbike Championship.

Thirty-year old Rutter was strongly rumoured to have linked up with former crew chief Ray Stringer for the forthcoming season but, amid strenuous denials from his representatives, has now agreed a deal to switch from his 2001 Kawasaki ride to pilot a Ducati for Renegade.

Contracts are expected to be exchanged at Renegade's team headquarters this afternoon, and will see 'rainmaster' Rutter team up with privateer champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne for 2002.
