The eleventh round of the British Superbike series took place at Cadwell Park on bank holiday Monday in front of a crowd of 30,500.

The "Phones 4 u Ducati" squad were in high spirits and Superpole on Sunday saw rider Dean Thomas qualify seventh overall.

Team Principal Enzo DiClemente commented: "We were pleased with our superpole position, we had made some changes to the bike that we felt would suit the bikes at a circuit like Cadwell."

Race day arrived along with rolling mist and rain but luckily the circuit had dried out for the first race as the "Phones 4 u Ducati" team lined up on the grid.

The race started with Thomas making a good start but on approaching the woodland section of the circuit going into a left hand turn at 80mph Thomas was suddenly taken out by fellow Australian rider Glen Richards who had lost control of his bike going into the turn, crashing into Thomas and sending him and his bike flying into the hay barriers at an enormous speed.

The "Phones 4 u Ducati" team could only watch on in horror from the garage as the race was red flagged and the pace car was sent out. Thomas lay motionless on the ground as marshals attend to him.

Gradually Thomas came round and was taken to the medical centre where he was found to have a dislocated shoulder, which was put back into place by the doctors at the centre. A distraught Glen Richards came to the Dienza camp to apologise to the extremely battered Thomas.

Thomas said: "One minute I was upright the next I was flying through the air like a trapeze artist - very frightening at a speed of about 80mph. I feel like I've been in the ring with Mike Tyson at the moment."

Thomas was unable to continue in race 2 due to his injuries. A disappointing weekend for the "Phones 4 u Ducati" team but the team move on to Oulton Park on Sept 1st - which leaves just 4 days for Thomas to recover in!
